The Village of Hamilton and Town of Hamilton have teamed up with Colgate University and the Hamilton community to form the Hamilton Climate Preparedness Working Group. The HCPWG’s mission statement is as follows:
“Research, plan, and promote policies and programs in response to existing and future impacts of climate change. The Working Group supports efforts to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change, working collaboratively with our local communities to track and cut emissions. The Working Group also seeks to identify people and resources vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, in order to promote the sustainability of our communities for the twenty-first century and beyond.”

Preparing for Climate Change
In 2020, both the Town and Village received their Climate Smart Communities Bronze Certification. The CSC program was started in 2009 and provides a simple, concrete framework for local governments to commit to acting on climate change. You can learn more about the CSC program here:
